Due to new legislation passed by the 2016 Florida Legislature, there will be Parental School Choice for qualifying students to any public school that has the capacity beginning in the 2017-2018 school year. Parents would have to provide transportation.
In Wakulla County, the deadline to apply to enroll in Wakulla’s public schools that have capacity is March 3, 2017. Students who live in that school zone are placed first and do not need to apply.
Detailed information can be found on the Wakulla County Schools website. A link to Frequently Asked Questions and the actual application is available on the Home page labeled “Parental Choice Information (including Zoning and Out of Zone information)”.
Any parent who does not have access to a computer can be accommodated at the Wakulla County District office at 69 Arran Road in Crawfordville. Parents may submit applications by March 3 under this controlled open enrollment legislation, although submitting the application itself does not guarantee transfer approval.
