The May Employee of the Month is Lorrie Gallamore, Wakulla Pre-K Center Administrative Secretary. Gallamore has been serving the little people at Wakulla Pre-K for almost 20 years, first as a Child Development Associate. Prior to joining the Pre-K Eaglet Team, she worked with the Department of State.
Gallamore has roots in Wakulla as she attended Shadeville Elementary and graduated from Wakulla High School. She later attended TCC where she became a paralegal and received her CDA credentials.
When she and her husband started a family, both knew they wanted to live in Wakulla. When her girls attended Readimobile she reflects, “I realized how much we all loved the culture and commitment the Wakulla School District has for education.” Gallamore adds, “Every day is different. Wakulla School District is great. Everyone knows one another and we work together as a team and care about one another as family. When someone is in need, there is always a helping hand available.”
Ms. Gallamore is active with the Wakulla United Methodist Women, the Big Hearted Angels and Special Olympics. Pre-K Principal Laura Kelley shares, “Ms. Lorrie is as dependable as the rising sun. She arrives at school early to tackle the daily tasks. She is an octopus and juggles a variety of things at one time from meeting and greeting parents every day in the front office with a warm smile to walking students to class to assisting with bus duty or helping to serve breakfast or lunch when the cafeteria is shorthanded. She fields telephone calls and has a knack for calming upset parents. She is our school therapist. Everyone drops by the office in the morning to get their pep talk from her. She continually laughs and finds positive in any situation. When dealing with a crisis, she remains calm and springs into action to keep our students safe. I am so thankful for all of her wonderful qualities that make her so special. She is most deserving of this award and I am proud to call her both colleague and friend.”
