Wakulla County Superintendent of Schools Bobby Pearce spearheaded the third annual effort by Wakulla County students, faculties and staffs to help raise funds for the Wakulla County Senior Citizens Center. He came up with the idea and designated the cause as “September for Seniors”.
Over $3,000 was raised to help offset a continuing decrease in state funding for seniors.
Students, faculties and staffs from Wakulla County public schools pitched in with innovative ways to raise the funds, such as movie nights or dress down days. All participation and donations were optional.
“Helping our students put into action giving back to their community is as important as any other concept we teach,” stated Superintendent Pearce. “What better match than to have our youngest school population support their elders and the contributions they have made to Wakulla County?”
